Business as Usual

It is no longer business as usual. Not this week. Not this month. And probably not this year.

In our country, people are experiencing turmoil, division, fear and on the flip side, a renewed sense of collaboration and coming together for a common purpose. The changes that are being made in our government feel like we are not being heard as a nation and have put me into high-alert at times. Other times it has awakened a desire to stand in our own personal power, ground ourselves in the truth and act in accordance with the values, purpose and truth that we feel to be self-evident.

I feel my attention being pulled into inspired action steps for what I believe in and for a future for my children where we honor and respect the connection between individuals and the right to protect our own Mother (Earth) and her sacred lands that we are all living off of.

I know I am not alone in my feelings. I have talked to many friends and colleagues who are channeling their emotions into action.

2016 was a monumental year of change for me and I am still sitting with the outcomes of it all. I am slightly changing directions in my business as my soul is inspired and lit up by working directly with women who are willing and excited to invest in themselves – to carve out sacred time for their growth and to say yes to their potential be it through their role as a mother, an activist or an entrepreneur. It doesn’t matter. As a Coach I meet you where you are. I hold sacred space for you to listen to your soul, to YOUR truth and to find ways to align your life and at times your work, with your calling.

And I will stand up for you because you are your greatest investment strategy.

When you invest in yourself, everyone wins – you, your loved ones, your family, your community, your tribe.

I have witnessed this first-hand. When I said yes to the calling I felt within to become a coach instead of work with them professionally by managing their businesses and personally with my own coaches, I embarked on a journey of dedication.

Within 2 weeks of enrolling in a year-long coach training program, my father, who was visiting us, came close to death and spent 7 weeks on life support and in a medically-induced coma. With two young children to take care of – and no childcare for 2 weeks – my sister and I pulled together to take turns watching the little ones and being at my father’s bedside. You see, he needed us to be his voice since he had none. I learned so much during that time and was forced repeatedly to stand up for my vision of his health and healing when the doctors themselves were giving up and telling us he wouldn’t survive.

Around the 2nd week of our ICU journey was the beginning of my coaching program. I almost talked myself out of participating in the program for the work required 15-20 hours/per week and I really needed to be with my family right now. But that inner voice within that spoke of my purpose and my truth kept calling to me.

She wasn’t ready for me to give up.
She wasn’t ready for me to desert my dreams.
She showed me there is a way to be there for others AND for yourself.

So I took advantage of the 3 hour daily commute I had to the hospital and home to listen to the calls, work on my coaching skills and expand into the vision I was holding for myself and my family. I completed my weekly workbooks and homework assignment from the ICU.

You see, when we commit to following our calling, doors open up for us. We will always be met with resistance – do you see how easy it would have been for me to turn my back on that program? I wanted to write in and ask if I could attend in a year when my life was more stable.

But there is never a perfect time so stop using that as an excuse.
