The stillness of the Winter season and its introspective energy is aglow deep within us.
I’m being asked to sit in the stillness a little bit longer than I anticipated. This is over my threshold of comfort. I desire to move forward in action but I am listening, I am trusting there is more to receive and I am carving out the sacred space to do so.
How do you carve out sacred space within your daily life?
For me, I do what I need to do to create more space while still holding the reigns of motherhood, work, caregiving and marriage. It’s not always easy.
Holding your boundaries is very important in creating space to be in the stillness. Look at what you say yes to that serves you and what you say yes to that drains you. Be your own observer and then align your actions with your intentions.
If you are feeling called to be in the unknown, to sit in the stillness of this season, it may look like saying no to invitations, friends or events that zap your energy. Be mindful of your time.
Create sacredness in your everyday. Go for a walk even if it’s cold because it fills your soul up. Go to the gym or a class because it feels good to move and release energy. Get on the floor and play with your kids. Cuddle with your fur baby by a cozy fire. Turn the TV off and read a book. Do what feels good to your body, mind and soul.
Listen to your body, you will know what is right for you. Do things that fill you up. Be selfish and think of that for a change instead of what is good for everyone else. It’s OK to take care of you. So many women and Mama’s I know struggle with this, myself included.
For in following the joy, we expand into our own knowing and wisdom. And each and every time we fill up our own cup, we have more goodness to share.
There is action in stillness. The art of sitting in stillness requires effort. There is underground movement, opening your heart to its wisdom, listening, making the space and time to do so, holding boundaries and realigning where necessary.
Action breeds clarity and even in sitting in the silence of the unknown, you are being asked to take action, to surrender, to listen and to trust.
So whatever it is that is calling to you;
quiet respite,
rejuvenating activities,
healing movement,
courageous action,
leaping over your threshold of comfort,
pushing your edge,
Listen and take the quiet action steps to make it happen.
Here’s to finding the stillness within your heart and your life that will give you the comfort and nourishment you desire.
